Shaun is an experienced artist and tutor working for over twenty years to help others create beautiful and unique prints.
ArtistsWorkhouse is delighted to announce that Shaun will be running a series of print workshops to be held at our studios in Studley, each one looking at different aspects of printing and the relevant materials.
- Tuesday 17th October Mono printing:
Explore a diverse range of mono printing techniques in this dynamic and experimental workshop. Students will have the opportunity to create a series of figurative and abstract prints based on their own ideas and images as well as those directed by the tutor. Students will also have the opportunity to study contemporary and historical examples. All materials are provided, students will just need to bring some examples of drawings and photographs that they would like to work from.
- Saturday 11th Nov November: Relief Printmaking
Enjoy an introduction to the ancient craft of relief printing by studying the art of lino-cutting to create your own imaginative design and a portfolio of prints. You will explore traditional and digital ways to develop an image of your choosing and then develop your skills to transfer and carve out your plate before printing. You will also look at more experimental relief printmaking by using recyclable materials. Students will also have the opportunity to study contemporary and historical examples. All materials are provided, students will just need to bring some examples of drawings and photographs that they would like to work from.
- Saturday 2nd December: Drypoint etching
Enjoy an introduction to intaglio printmaking by creating your own drypoint etching plate and an exciting portfolio of prints. You will learn how to develop your drawing and design skills before applying these to your own engraving. Students will study how to successfully ink and print their plates and also how to experiment with the inking process to create mood and atmosphere in their work. Students will also have the opportunity to study contemporary and historical examples. All materials are provided, students will just need to bring some examples of drawings and photographs that they would like to work from
- Saturday 10th February: Experimental Printmaking
For those artists interested in experimenting with different materials, techniques and processes to create imaginative and dynamic results this workshop will explore a range of experimental approaches. This will include collagraph printing, stencil and paper pick-up techniques, and mixed media printmaking. Students will study how to successfully ink and print their plates and also how to experiment with colour to create mood and atmosphere in their work. Students will also have the opportunity to study contemporary and historical examples. All materials are provided, students will just need to bring some examples of drawings and photographs that they would like to work from.
- All priced at £55 per session, all materials provided.
- Workshops run 10.30am – 3.30pm, with a break for lunch and light refreshments will be available throughout the day.
- Workshops are bookable in advance on a first come first served basis and payable upon booking a place. (places are limited)
- In the unlikely event that we would have to cancel the workshop, a full refund will be provided promptly.
- If you unfortunately need to cancel, a full refund will be given up until 2 weeks prior to the workshop date.
